//What’s new? Life at Engage_June 24_2010

Hey Peeps,
I was in Texas last week at a fellowship of church planting pastors with churches similar to Engage in size and vision.  I came across this video and LOVED IT!!  In just two minutes this video explains what we are about and what we are constantly trying to work towards at Engage. Would love for all of you to watch it and post a comment or two. Oh, think of one person you can forward this link to. Share the message. Click on the header to view comments. Thanks Kevin for being the first!!

Enjoy!!

    Good stuff, Jon.

    This video effectively communicates what I’ve long believed to be a fundamental problem with the way the modern Evangelical church thinks about and does outreach. Instead of asking others to come to us, we should be going out to them. The arrows need to be going away from the church. The salt needs to get out into the world.

    One serious problem with the church-focused model, where we create “compelling” programs and “relevant” teachings to draw people in, is the tendency to become isolated from the community and world in which we live in. You get the Evangelical Christian subculture, which has little connection (and therefore impact) with the world around us.

    This is a fundamental paradigm shift that I hope more and more churches begin to understand. I love that Engage gets this, and my hope and prayer is that this kind of outward flow and energy continues.

    Love the video - clear, concrete, and compelling. Should be part of our “introduction” to Engage - paints defined picture (literally) of what we believe God is calling us to do as a church community.
