Fear is good. In short bursts it can galvanize us to action. Anxiety is ongoing like a cold drizzle in our soul and paralyzes us.
The core of anxiety is fear that we will be rejected, abandoned, or worth-less. The opposite of love is fear, not hate. I John 4:8 - Perfect love casts out fear.
Anxiety comes from the fear that we won’t get something we think we need. Success, not failure. Acceptance, not rejection. Power, not weakness. Security, not scarcity. Acknowledgment, not obscurity. The list goes on and on.
Anxiety is smoke. If you follow it, it will take you to the fire.

If you deal with anxiety, do not feel shame. Rather, decide today to begin to get help from God and others. Please come talk to Pastor Jon or Pastor Kelly if you are ready to open up about your anxiety and begin the process of wholeness. It takes greater courage and strength to reach out and get help with anxiety and fear than it does to purely try and stuff it inside by turning off your feelings or being blown around by your feelings.
