Podcast Listen to Sermon: Easter Rebellion

Thoughts to Ponder:

The resurrection is a rebellion against the natural decay of life.

The resurrection is a sneak peak at what our renewed world will be, it’s a sneak peak at what our lives can be with God.

What needs resurrected in your life? Your marriage? Relationships? An addiction that’s slowly killing you? Your issues with anger? An unconquered bitterness?

Does your life show you’re a part of the rebellion? The resurrection changes everything.

Ask God how he can use you to bring resurrection to your work? Family? The local community? The pressing global needs of our time? Our environment?

For Starters-
Mere Christianity - C.S. Lewis. Lewis has a whole section of the book dedicated to the resurrection of Jesus and what it means for us. His description is especially helpful if your find yourself doubting if the historical person Jesus of Nazareth actually rose from the dead.

Rated M for Mature -
Surprised by Hope- N.T.Wright - This book is a deeper theological reflection on the resurrection of Jesus and the afterlife. Wright point is that our sense of hope, our motivation for change, and our perseverance in the face of difficulty all stem from the meaning and power of Jesus’ resurrected life.

Podcast Listen to Music: Justice and Love by Stephen Santos

It seems capricious that God would judge all of us and some go to hell unless we believe that God is both 1. Good and 2. Relational.

Can you trust the goodness of God’s ability to judge others? Can you give up trying to judge others and leave that to a good God?

C. S. Lewis said, “There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, in the end, ‘Thy will be done.’ ” Lewis continues, “The doors to hell are locked from the inside.” Problem of Pain page 126. Lewis is saying that God gives us freedom to go in the direction we want to go…he does not force us to spend forever with him. He gives us space to live far away if that is what we choose.
