Secular people tend to think he’s a great guy who made the world a better place, but he’s not God.

Religious people often think he’s God so he’s there to meet our expectations.

Jesus takes a very different angle from the other two perspectives. See Mark 8:34-36

A. Jesus is a good guy, great teacher…don’t know beyond that.
B. Jesus is  God in the form of a human and holds the key to the best kind of life otherwise he is a self-inflated nut job making outrageous claims about himself. 
C. Jesus is God but I’m kind of bored with him.

BOOK—a must read: The Jesus I Never Knew - By Philip Yancey. Philip Yancey reveals the real Jesus beyond the stereotypes, revolutionizing the reader’s passion and understanding of Christ.

“Next Steps”: Read the gospel of Mark…one chapter per day. Write down the questions you have about Jesus? Ask yourself, what would my life be like if I trusted my way of life to him? Share your questions and thoughts about Jesus with someone who claims to know Jesus.

Read John 14-17 to learn more about how the Trinity works together in our lives.

Spiritual growth exercise:  Be intentional. Start every day with the prayer, “God show me where you are showing up in my life today.” At the end of each day, take 5 minutes to reflect on your day and answer the question, “Where did I see God in my life today? How did I see evidence of the Spirit of God working in me?”. **Remember we know that God is working in us when we find ourselves releasing control, trusting, serving, forgiving, noticing, viewing others…in a way that is not natural or normal for that area of our life.  Do this for 2 weeks and you will begin to see a change in your life.  God speaks, now go listen.
